Since the Family was Baptist, he was not given Infant baptism in Apen. There is an "Anlage" (extra page) at the end of the year 1850 in the copy of the KB in Oldenburg that explains that he was the brother of the stillborn twin girl, but that his parents did not want him baptized. He seems to have been given the Name "Gerd" by his parents, but he used "Friedrich" or "Fred" in the U.S. | Holstmann, Gerd Friedrich (I103655)

Sister Alma Behrens lived in Canada. She must be the person arriving in Canada 17 July 1926, born in Dalsper.
It looks like the Oettken family went back to Germany for a while, and daughter Else was born there in Oldenburg about Apr 1926. They immigrated to Canada in July 1926, and were sponsored by the Lutheran Immigration Board in Winnipeg. The 1926 immigration record (at Quebec) indicates that she was born in Dalsper, and that her mother was Anna Kuck in Oldenburg, living at Cloppenburgerstr. 5. The immigration record also indicates that Walter was born in Kansas, and was granted Canadian citizenship 17 Oct 1931. | Kuck, Frieda (I154993)
